Maidstone Covid Assessment Centre
The Maidstone group of GP Practices (Aylesford Medical Centre, Blackthorn Medical Centre, The College Practice, Bower Mount Medical Practice, Brewer Street Surgery, The Shepway Medical Practice, The Vine Medical Centre, Albion Place Medical Centre, Greensands Health Centre, Mote Medical Practice and Wallis Avenue Surgery) are committed to providing the highest levels of support to their patients during the Covid-19 crisis.
Patients registered at these practices requiring medical support with suspected Covid-19 symptoms should telephone 111 or their usual GP practice. If it is suspected that they may have significant symptoms of Covid-19 and need to be seen by a clinician, they will be referred to the Maidstone Covid Assessment Centre sited at Maidstone Leisure Centre, Mote Park, ME15 7RN. The site is a drive through centre where patients suspected to be Covid positive can be seen & assessed. The outcome will usually be to return home for self-care with a minority of patients being directed to hospital for further assessment.
Patients who think they may have Covid related symptoms should first check with the NHS111 website & ring NHS111 for advice if directed to do so NHS111 will communicate with the practice if appropriate & the practice will then contact the patient with an appointment time at the hub if appropriate.
There is no on site testing, the site is purely to assess the severity of symptoms enabling clinical staff to make decisions about how to best manage individual patients.
We would urge our patients to keep up the strong community support and solidarity that is so evident in West-Kent. We support the policy of social distancing for us all, and shielding for the more vulnerable groups, such as those over the age of 70 years and those with a long term health condition.
As GPs we are committed to providing excellent care for our patients, some of whom we have known for decades and through several generations. We want to stand with our patients at this difficult time in delivering good medical care to them throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. For advice or more information, please contact your own surgery.
